Michigan Court Forms System Redesign
The Project
Michiganders navigating the civil legal system interact with a variety of forms and materials, but these touchpoints aren’t always user-friendly or efficient. We worked to improve these forms and improve court engagement.
Alongside our partners, we developed a reusable Adobe Creative Cloud (CC) library of form components for InDesign, design guidance, and implementation tools to support clearer, easier-to-use court forms across the state.
The case study can be found here.

Role
This was a highly collaborative project where each of us contributed to research, design, and strategy. What I contributed to:
- Creating the design system components while adhereing to accessibilty and form design best practices
- User-testing and rapid iterations
- Creating five template forms
- Outlining the style guide and training material
I owned the following work streams:
- Research operations
- Planning and recruiting for in-person user-research in Michigan
- Created an onboarding guide for new users of the Adobe Creative Cloud Library, where the design system components would be hosted.
Conducting user-reserach with court clerks at the Detroit 36th District CourtBelow are example pages of Court Form DC84 before and after implementing the design system.
